No Prayer Too Big

The persecuted church cherish your prayers. Each day they walk a fine line between fear and miracles—knowing and seeing God’s hand in their lives while acutely aware of the very real dangers they face.

They ask that you stand with them so they can stay strong in their calling. Here’s how.

Simin: A Woman of Prayer

You may remember Simin from our Vulnerable Women’s campaign last year. She was a dedicated nurse in Iran who was relentlessly persecuted for her faith. Living as a believer in a conservative Muslim society led to her arrest and that of her husband. She was also fired from her job and threatened by authorities to have her daughter taken away. Despite these overwhelming trials, Simin’s faith remained unshaken. Fleeing Iran to escape further persecution, she now helps other persecuted women through her online ministry.

Simin is a woman of prayer, and her testimonies of miracles are powerful. Here’s one in her own words.

“As refugees, we lack medical insurance. This reality becomes even more challenging when you have a child to care for in a small town with only two expensive paediatric clinics. A few weeks ago, my daughter fell and broke four of her teeth. We attempted to delay her visit to the dentist due to the high medical expenses. She was in pain, and we didn’t know what to do except pray. Praise God, He provided for us and her treatment went well. Through prayer, God helped us overcome and strengthened our trust in Him.”

Simin was told that many Christians around the world heard her story and were praying for her. She was overwhelmed and shares:

“My heart dances with joy when I hear that many sisters and brothers around the world are praying for my family and me. Even though they don’t know us personally and we’ve never met, yet they pray for us. I’m very grateful. These prayers give me new power to stay faithful in my path and move forward! I’m blessed and thankful to see that God is working through the prayers in the midst of persecution, challenges, and difficulties.”

Praying for Persecuted Believers

Persecuted Christians covet your prayers more than anything else. Many ask and believe God for the impossible and see it happen. When we pray, we should do the same. Persecution may be huge, but God is working in and through it to heal, rescue, strengthen, and save.

So how should we pray for our persecuted family?

Boldly: no ask too big or small, knowing that nothing comes as a surprise to God.

With confidence: In Genesis 18:14, God asked Abraham, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” It was a rhetorical question. The answer, of course, was “no”. Today, it’s still “no”.

Consistently: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 encourages us to pray without ceasing. Persecution is relentless, we should be too.

With compassion: An important part of praying for persecuted believers is praying for their persecutors too. They also need Jesus. We know what can happen when they find Him—just look at Paul!

Thank you for praying for our persecuted family.

Millions of believers have nowhere to call home.

DISPLACEMENT CREATES FEAR AND INSECURITY

Pastor Yang’s* family haven’t had a permanent home for a long time. Under Myanmar’s military dictatorship, they haven’t known peace or certainty for years. His family are traumatised by gunfire and bombings and are always on the run from the terrible war. Today, you can remind them they’re not alone.
