Discover MoreServing the persecuted, strengthening the Church
In places like North Korea, Afghanistan, India and China, Christians are persecuted and discriminated against for following Jesus. 1 in 7 Christians worldwide are persecuted for their faith.
They are denied access to jobs and education, and excluded from aid and community resources. Many persecuted Christians are attacked and abused. Their churches are demolished, and their businesses destroyed.
Since 1955, Open Doors has been serving the persecuted and strengthening the Church. We are unique in our roots, our reach, our response and our research.
Open Doors stands on a strong legacy and biblical foundation—a history that stretches back to 1955, when our founder, Brother Andrew, began to smuggle Bibles behind the Iron Curtain.
READ MOREAs the world’s largest underground network serving the persecuted church, Open Doors reaches millions of believers in over 70 countries each year as they shine Christ’s light in some of the darkest places.
Open Doors works through long-term on-the-ground partners who are best placed to create projects that respond and adapt to the unique needs of persecuted Christians in their own community.
Each year, Open Doors’ expert analysts produce the World Watch List, which reports on the 50 places where it’s hardest to follow Jesus. As the most authoritative research of its kind, the List centres us on serving the most persecuted.

We also adopt as the Statement of Faith of Open Doors the Apostle’s Creed:
We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born ofthe Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen
