Christians in Bangladesh are reading the Bible for the first time after learning to read with local partners.
“Before, I could not read the Bible,” said Jinara. “From this class, I have learned how to read and write. I have come to know many stories from the Bible, and I can tell them to others. I have become a believer through this class.”
There are over 200 adult literacy centres run across Bangladesh, helping over 3,000 people like Jinara learn to read and write in 2021 alone.
Sumi is one of the teachers.
“Through this class, the students are learning how to read the Bible,” Sumi said. “Now, they can read the Bible and know how Jesus Christ worked and did miracles.
“I want to win the villagers by the words of God. Someday, all villagers will have salvation. They will worship and pray to the Lord. This is not only my dream, but this is also the dream of my father and my family. They were once Muslim but when we met Jesus, everything changed, and we want the other Muslims to know the truth and come to the Lord.”
We want to thank you, our faithful prayer family, for keeping the persecuted church in your prayers throughout 2021.
Now as we enter the new year, we ask that you commit again to lifting up our persecuted brothers and sisters in Bangladesh and all over the world in 2022.
Pray For Bangladesh:
- Praise God for the faith of those coming to know Christ through the literacy classes. Pray that they continue following Him.
- Pray that the work of partners in Bangladesh will bless local believers and grow the church.
- Pray over 2022. Pray the global body of Christ will be strengthened to face persecution and change with boldness.
