Encouragement for Children in Central Asia

Children in Christian families can face unique challenges because of their faith. Some challenges, such as widespread violence, are broad and affect entire communities of believers, including them. Others are more targeted and can affect a child’s education, their confidence, and their identity. Some children have lost their parents to religiously motivated violence.

Every day, Christian parents are forced to choose between staying faithful to Jesus or protecting their children; between raising them as Christians or keeping them from harm.

Many children grow up in constant danger from their parents’ determination to follow Christ, a conviction their parents hope will pass down to them. The courage and determination of many parents in the persecuted church is inspiring and humbling but often comes at great cost. It’s not only the parents who pay—the children do, too.

The Church in Central Asia is young and has limited experience in dealing with issues faced by children and youth. Spiritual education for young people is often neglected and in many Central Asian countries, the law forbids teaching children under 18 about any religion.

We want to show Christian children in Central Asia that the global Church is standing with them in support, prayer, and action.

Encourage Children in Central Asia

Persecuted children are excited to receive drawings from Christian children around the world. They are happy to know that other children are praying for them and have taken the time to create something special. Importantly, they don’t feel so alone.

Drawing Guidelines

  • Drawings from children are best.
  • Do not send letters with the drawings.
  • Use an A4 piece of paper, crayons, colouring pencils, paints, or texters to create the drawing.
  • Keep it bright, age appropriate, and culturally sensitive. Ensure the pictures are clear to see and easy to understand.
  • Pray for the children your family (or you) are drawing for, asking for God’s protection, provision, and guidance in their lives.

  • You can provide your name, but do not provide your full address.
