Three Iranian Christians have been sentenced to prison for a total of 22 years for organising and establishing house churches — all while the government says there is freedom of expression and assembly.
58 -year-old Pastor Joseph Shahbazian received a 10-year prison sentence and, after his release, will have to live in exile in a remote part of Iran for two more years.
The pastor was one of a group of Christian converts who were among dozens arrested during several raids in 2020. Earlier this month, he and two women were given prison sentences for organising and establishing house churches with “the intention of disturbing national security”.
The two women, Mina Khajavi, 59, and Malihe Nazari, 48, each will have to serve a 6-year prison sentence.
Please pray for these believers, and the countless others imprisoned for their faith all over the world.
Pray For Iran:
- Pray that Joseph, Mina, and Malihe will have courage and faith.
- Pray that the Iranian government will pursue true freedom of religion.
- Pray that those imprisoned for their faith all over the world will turn to God for strength.
