You Can Help
the Church

In 2023 alone, there were over 300 churches destroyed in India. More than 500 instances of violence toward Christians were recorded, including the destruction of churches, pastors’ homes, and Christian schools. These statistics are conservative, as there are many instances of violence never documented.

Attacks towards Christians are rapidly increasing in the lead-up to the national elections. Conservative Hindu ideology is becoming stronger, and Christians in India are suffering.

Your support will show Christians in India they are not alone. Will you help today?

Meet Pastor Laxman

Laxman, a Christian in his early 30s, pastors a growing church in India.

In the area where Laxman lives, Hindu extremist groups view Christianity as a ‘foreign religion’. They believe Indians ought to be Hindus.

When Laxman’s church began to grow—and his congregation included former Hindus—the extremists in the area were enraged

“The next day, while I was conducting a prayer service, the police came. They started beating me. They took me by the collar, hit me with their batons, and slapped me. Then police shoved me in their van and took us to the police station.”

Right now, pastors like Laxman need your help. They fear imprisonment and attack and are traumatised from what they have endured.

The global Church is a family. We may not be related by blood, but the blood of Christ unites us. And in Him, we are one body, created to care and strengthen one another.

In the words of Paul the apostle, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” – Galatians 6:10

At Open Doors, we see the power of prayer displayed in the global Church every day. How can we pray for you? Send us your prayer request, and a member of our team will devote time to praying for you.
